you. LocKey U Outfitters Adventure Guide School can help transform your
love of the outdoors into the career of a lifetime. Our outdoor guide school will teach you to master essential outdoor skills such as horsemanship, trail riding, and packing; big game hunting, orienteering with a map, compass, wilderness survival; camp cooking; outdoor photography; outdoor first aid, CPR, and so much more. Nestled in the Nez Perce National forest, we are the premier outdoor guide school in the country. COST $2,300.00 PER PERSON Week one- Basic training un-military style This week we spend time teaching how to be around horses, how to handle animals, learn to ride, learn about riding saddles and pack saddles, learn how to tie packs, learn knots, braid rope ect… you will stay at the main lodge during this time. Week Two- Pack and ride into the back country This week we will head into the backcountry and do full pack trips and build camps. Make wood, clear trails. Do everything that is needed to prepare for a hunt camp and clients. Learn survival tactics and rescue tactics. Learn to read a compass and maps. Week Three- Guide Skills This week you will learn how to call game- deer, elk, predators ect.. Learn how to hunt the mountains and not get lost. Learn how to deal with clients, how to cook and camp etiquette. Practice hunting with clients and how weather effects game movement. Strategies of how to hunt and learn why we do this. Week Four- Taking care of game This week we will actually kill an animal and learn how to cape, quarter and clean this animal. Learn how to score and evaluate game. Learn how to take correct trophy pictures for clients and out door photography. Learn how to pack out game. We will also learn how attitude can elevate or crash a camp. Learn conversation techniques – hunting is about opportunity and not killing and that trophies are measured by experience and not inches. Advance classes are available on how to be an outfitter. Job placement is available for those who graduate from our program. My classes will make you realize if you really want to be a guide or possibly an outfitter, but it will also teach you woodsman ship and you will learn how to hunt in big country and be self sufficient in remote areas. This class will enable you to be a true hunter. |
