Gilmore Ranch Bear hunts take place in our traditional back country camp and is done on horseback. This hunt is a wonderful hunt to bring your buddy on. It is an easy hunt and you will see elk, deer and moose in their natural habitat - just feet from the cabin door. black bear

Shooting Oppurtunity has been 95% for the past decade.

There is no other hunting pressure in this area and we hunt over bait in the afternoons. Which also gives you some time to do some unguided Merriam Turkey hunting in the morning. We start baiting weeks before our hunts start to assure the bears area working the baits. We only take 4-6 hunters each Spring and Fall on these hunts. So book early. Success is 90% on these bears with a very large population of color phase bears taken.

Spring Season is May 9 - May 30 Fall Season is September 01- 30

Elk in the meadow right outside the cabin during one of our bear hunts. Spring is the most perfect time at the Historic Gilmore Ranch! This is a must see! Spring bear hunts are a wonderful hunt for the entire family. You are guaranteed to see many elk and deer in the meadow right outside the cabin each evening. The Gilmore Ranch is a natural calving ground for the elk, a great way to see these majestic animals close up and personel.
